Ya know, the headline is not sensationalized nor is it false. Mason announced on his blog yesterday that he is HIV+. He didn’t go into any details which is his right now to do but I am heartbroken and confusingly disappointed.

I am heartbroken because there was just something so charming about Mason’s smile and eyes and they way he portrayed himself in his videos and I can’t imagine MasonWyler.com not being around anymore. I hope that… there is some way that he can continue to have a successful career in this business because he is good at what he does. Realistically speaking, I don’t see that happening. Also, I remember when he was raped and… hasn’t this guy been through enough?

I am confusingly disappointed and I say “confusingly” because… I don’t know Mason. Sure, I’ve followed his career for sometime but I don’t know him personally. One of my friends had the chance to shoot a scene with him but I don’t know him personally. I think that I want something from people that I should not be requesting: a level of certain responsibility! I have heard the story over and over again from countless gay guys that go something like, “I hate using condoms.” Well, I couldn’t agree more! But guess what? I just don’t have sex. You may have read a posting from me on facebook a few weeks ago about barebacking and how I have chosen to simply abstain from having sex because… bareback feels much better! But in this day in age… is it really worth the risks?

Obviously I am un-sure if Mason’s infection is from his reported bareback films (which I honestly did not follow so I am un-sure if he ever did them but I think he did) or if this resulted from irresponsibility in his own life. I hate that critics will look at this and say, “there’s another one! another gay porn person with HIV” when there are countless gay porn stars who are never infected with HIV. Anyways, I won’t ramble anymore.
